Our Story
The short, honest version of how PetroOp came to be.
PetroOp started with a simple observation: oil & gas field operations — the wells, the equipment, the maintenance schedules, the alerts that actually matter — deserve software that's built specifically for them, not a generic dashboard bolted on afterward.
Peyton Covey founded PetroOp and has built the platform from the ground up — the data model, the field-operations workflows, and the engineering behind every screen in the product. Peyton is PetroOp's CEO, founder, and developer.
Ethan Kim joined as co-founder early on to help get PetroOp in front of the operators who need it, and leads marketing for the company today.
We're an early-stage, independent team. We'd rather be upfront about that than pretend to be bigger than we are — the site's well data and API demos are clearly labeled where they're simulated, and we intend to keep it that way as PetroOp grows.
Part of why we're building PetroOp at all: we've committed 50% of future revenue to supporting children through Save the Children — a founding commitment for once PetroOp is generating revenue, not a claim that donations have already been made.
